All provide excellent results, but at higher resolutions the results are less than expected. Higher resolutions require more memory, which reduces the number of hits in the on-die cache. This could cause memory requests to be routed to regular memory, making things difficult for the RTX 4060 Ti's much smaller 128-bit bus.
We'll have to wait for reviews to see if this Phone Number List issue also applies to the RTX 4060 Ti his was the case with the RTX 4070, which uses similar technology tuned for 1,440p gaming.
If so, it would be disappointing. The RTX 3060 Ti was one of the best GeForce cards of the last generation because it delivered decent 1,440p performance and excellent 1,080p gaming performance. For reference, GeForce product manager Justin Walker noted that the RTX 4060 Ti can run games at 1,440p, but some settings may need to be adjusted in some games, and games that support DLSS may see performance improvements.
Performance results using DLSS on 16GB RTX 4060 Ti. On the 16GB chart, Resident Evil Remake and A Plague Tale: Requiem were set to Ultra, but were lowered to High on the 8GB RTX 4060 Ti's performance chart. ⓒNvidia
If the RTX 4060 Ti is best suited for 1,080p gaming, the various memory options may not make much sense. Some newer games already exceed 8GB at 1,080p resolution, which can cause screen tearing if you don't adjust your graphics settings, but most games don't. Conclusive results will be known only after obtaining and testing the cards on May 24th (8GB) and in July (16GB).
Both models appear to be very power efficient. The rated power consumption of the 8GB model is 160W, and the 16GB model is 165W, with only a slight difference of 5W.
GeForce RTX 4060
That's not all! NVIDIA also revealed the technical specifications and initial performance test results of the $299 GeForce RTX 4060.

Everything said here about the 4060 Ti obviously applies to the 4060 as well. The 4060 uses a different core GPU than the 4060 Ti, and looking at the specifications provided by NVIDIA, the performance difference from the Ti model is expected to be noticeable. But it still offers all the benefits of Ada Lovelace, including DLSS 3, AV1 encoding, and exceptional power efficiency. Looking at the initial performance information provided by NVIDIA, it clearly outperforms the previous model in games that support DLSS.

There are two things to note about the memory subsystem in this model as well. First, the on-die L2 cache is 24MB, which is less than the Ti's 32MB. Second, the RTX 4060 also has 8GB of RAM, which is disappointing as it is less than the 12GB of the previous RTX 3060. However, the launch price of the RTX 3060 was $329, and the RTX 4060, which is made using a more advanced manufacturing process, is $299.

To dispel concerns about memory, NVIDIA even revealed the 1% lower performance results of the RTX 4060 compared to the previous model. If a game runs out of GPU VRAM, it will use much slower main system memory, resulting in severe stuttering. If this had happened in the games NVIDIA selected, it would have resulted in the chart above. However, enabling ray tracing and DLSS also changes the technology requirements, and all games in the chart had DLSS and ray tracing enabled where possible. You may see a noticeable difference in games without these features enabled. Once again, accurate results will only be obtained through independent testing after the RTX 4060 is released in July.
A revival of low-end GPUs?
A fierce war is suddenly taking place between budget PC gamers, who have been neglected for almost five years due to the pandemic and cryptocurrency. The $299 4060 competes with Intel's significantly improved Arc A750 ($250) and Arc A770 ($350 with 16GB of memory), as well as the discounted last-generation AMD. Additionally, there is talk that AMD will soon release a new entry-level Radeon RX 7600. All results will be revealed in the final benchmarks, but in any case, entry-level PC gaming is gaining market attention again. The time has finally come.
